For two days, the heart of Makati pulsed with the vibrant spirit of Guam as the Guam Visitors Bureau successfully staged Guam With Me: The Manila Event last June 6–7, 2026 at the Glorietta Activity Center.
Over the course of the two-day event, thousands of visitors experienced the best of Guam through interactive games and activities that kept the excitement high throughout the weekend. Visitors had the opportunity to win exclusive Guam merchandise and prizes, while top participants walked away with cash prizes from a daily pool totaling USD 350.
Adding a vibrant cultural dimension to the celebration were performances by Inetnon Gefpå'go, whose dynamic presentations of traditional CHamoru music and dance immersed visitors in Guam's rich heritage and showcased the island's enduring cultural traditions.
A major highlight of the weekend was the participation of celebrities like Rica Peralejo and Joseph Bonifacio, as well as Aubrey Miles and Troy Montero, who joined the festivities and shared their memorable experiences in Guam. Their presence added excitement to the celebration, inspiring attendees to consider Guam as their next international getaway
Beyond promoting travel, Guam With Me served as a platform for strengthening tourism ties between Guam and the Philippines. Industry stakeholders engaged directly with visitors, providing travel insights, destination information, and exclusive offers while reinforcing Guam's position as one of the most accessible and attractive destinations for the Philippine market.
“Filipinos should visit Guam because they're very similar in as far as our cultures, not only food, but family,” said Vincent Cruz, Military Sales & Corporate and Community PR Management of The Tsubaki Tower. “There are so many Filipinos in Guam that they'll feel right at home. It's less crowded, very quiet, and I think they'll really enjoy themselves.”
Rona Tamares, Commercial Manager of Hotel Nikko Guam, emphasized Guam's unique balance of comfort, safety, and adventure.
“It’s the type of location where you can feel safe and not overwhelmed with an extremely different culture,” Tamares shared. “It’s very relaxing and very calm, and it’s a great place to do activities and enjoy a lot of things without feeling scared to venture out to another country.”
Airline partners also highlighted the importance of connectivity in bringing more Filipinos to the island. Robin Vale Taylan, Senior Account Executive for Passenger Sales Philippines at Philippine Airlines, noted that the carrier's daily flights to Guam provide travelers with greater opportunities to experience the island's culture, traditions, and lifestyle firsthand.
Meanwhile, United Airlines Sales Manager Snooker Jaranilla expressed pride in representing the carrier's deep-rooted connection to the destination. “We partnered with the Guam Visitors Bureau to showcase our product and promote being the home carrier of Guam,” he said. “We're very proud to represent Guam here at the event.”
The growing engagement between Guam and the Philippines extends beyond tourism promotions and air connectivity. Just days before Guam With Me: The Manila Event, the governments of Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands jointly renewed their call for the inclusion of the Philippines in the Guam-CNMI Visa Waiver Program, a move that would allow eligible Filipino travelers to visit Guam and the CNMI without securing a U.S. visa while maintaining existing security and screening measures.
The proposal reflects the islands' recognition of the Philippines as a key tourism and economic partner and underscores their commitment to making travel more accessible for Filipino visitors. Coupled with ongoing efforts to strengthen air connectivity and explore measures that could further improve travel accessibility, Guam is well-positioned to welcome even more Filipino visitors in the years ahead.
