Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open 2025: Bencic, Kenin, Fernandez, Sakkari join stellar lineup

(HONG KONG) Marking the grand finale of an exciting 'Super October' of tennis in Hong Kong, the annual "Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open 2025" mega event will be held on the Tennis Centre Court of Victoria Park from 25 October to 2 November.

Four additional exciting world-class players will be joining the competition. The latest leading players to sign up for the tournament include Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Belinda Bencic, Grand Slam champion Sofia Kenin, "Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open 2023" champion Leylah Fernandez, and Greek star Maria Sakkari.

Belinda Bencic

World No. 14 Swiss star Belinda Bencic, who clinched the women's singles gold medal at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, crowned her successful season by winning the Abu Dhabi title this year – her ninth WTA singles titles.

Belinda Bencic said, ‘I am very much looking forward to coming to Hong Kong to play my last tournament of the 2025 season. I have heard amazing things about the city and the event and cannot wait to experience it for the first time.’

Sofia Kenin

World No. 26 American star Sofia Kenin won the Australian Open in 2020, while also reaching the final of the French Open that year, and was voted the WTA Player of the Year. She has won five WTA singles titles in her career.

Leylah Fernandez

World No. 27 Canadian player Leylah Fernandez is a firm favourite with Hong Kong fans. This year at the Washington Open, she defeated Jessica Pegula, Elena Rybakina, and Anna Kalinskaya to claim the title - her first championship since winning the "Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open" in 2023.

World No. 55 Maria Sakkari reached a career-high world ranking of No. 3 in 2021, becoming the first Greek woman to break into the world's top 10. She won the Guadalajara title in 2023 and has secured two WTA career singles titles.

Alex Eala

The four star players will join a strong lineup that includes,2024 Prudential Hong Kong Tennis 125 champion Ajla Tomljanović, Filipino rising star Alexandra Eala, Canadian star Victoria Mboko, star player Anna Kalinskaya, runner-up of the 2024 Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open Katie Boulter, and Chinese star Zhang Shuai.

Four-time Grand Slam champion and former world No. 1 Naomi Osaka who has signed up for the tournament has unfortunately sustained an injury at the Japan Open and, after consulting with her medical team, has regretfully had to withdraw from the Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open 2025. Emma Raducanu and Daria Kasatkina have earlier announced their early conclusion of the season due to injury and, as a result, have withdrawn from this year's tournament.

Naomi Osaka said, “I really like Hong Kong and I always hope to compete at the Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open in front of all my fans. Unfortunately, I sustained an injury at the Japan Women's Open in Osaka and am unable to continue competing in a high-intensity competition. So I have to end my season early and withdraw from this tournament. I hope everyone can enjoy this tournament. I will recover as soon as possible and look forward to seeing you all on court again.”

The "Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open 2025" has been awarded the “M” Mark by the Major Sports Events Committee, symbolizing that it is world-class mega sports event.  It promises to be an intense, spectacular and signature tournament.

This year, the Tournament Village will continue to be open to the public free of charge, inviting all tennis fans and members of the community to experience its lively atmosphere. In a special collaboration with Sanrio Hong Kong, a range of limited-edition themed merchandise featuring popular characters will be available, including Pompompurin, Pochacco, and Macaron and Piichans, offering collectors a unique opportunity.

Free pickleball zone experience empowered by Prudential

An interactive pickleball zone empowered by Prudential will be set up on site, reflecting the sport's growing popularity in recent years. With standard courts and instruction provided by professional coaches, participants of all skill levels are welcome to experience all the fun of this emerging sport.

The “Hong Kong ACE Market” will host a selection of locally sourced handmade brands to create an authentic cultural and creative experience. Attendees can watch the matches live via a giant LED screen in the public viewing area, while enjoying food, beverages, and music—making the tournament a citywide tennis celebration for all.

Public tickets are now available through Klook

The ‘Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open 2025’ runs from 25 October to 2 November. All qualifying matches on 25 and 26 October and main draw matches on Court 1 and Court 2 during the week will also be open to the public free of charge. The main draw's opening day on October 27 will feature the traditional 'People’s Monday', which will also be open to the public for free*. Public tickets are now available for purchase through Klook. Cat 1 tickets range from HK$220 to HK$970; and HK$160 to HK$760 for Cat 2 tickets. The Tournament Village is open to the public completely free of charge throughout the event.

A 50% discount is available for those aged 18 or below, full-time students, and seniors aged 60 or above on Cat 2 tickets.
