Top seed Belinda Bencic visits ‘Panda-tastic’ Hong Kong, coaching clinic inspires young tennis hopefuls
Fresh from her victory at the Toray Pan Pacific Open, Bencic began her day exploring Hong Kong Ocean Park. She was visibly excited during her first encounter with giant pandas and couldn’t resist bringing home a panda plush toy as a souvenir. She also took a cable car ride and visited other animal residents, including the park’s charming penguins.

Later, Bencic joined around 30 young athletes from the Hong Kong, China Tennis Association’s National Training Squad (NTS) for a coaching session. She offered personalized guidance and praised the trainees for their impressive performance, noting that they continued to train hard even when she intentionally increased the difficulty of the drills. As a gesture of encouragement, Bencic gave each of the participants a signed tennis ball, inspiring them to pursue their dreams in the sport.
Bencic shared: “I’m thrilled to return to the tour now as a mother, and hope my journey shows that athletes don’t have to choose between family and a professional career. This is my first time in Hong Kong, and I’m truly excited—I’ll definitely give my all in the matches ahead.”

The ‘Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open 2025’ runs from 25 October to 2 November. All main draw matches on Court 1 and Court 2 during the week will open to the public free of charge. Public tickets are now available for purchase through Klook. Cat 1 tickets range from HK$220 to HK$970; and HK$160 to HK$760 for Cat 2 tickets. The Tournament Village is open to the public completely free of charge throughout the event.
A 50% discount is available for those aged 18 or below, full-time students, and seniors aged 60 or above on Cat 2 tickets.
