Top players return to Hong Kong for World Grand Prix 2026

 

HONG KONG - Organised by World Snooker Tour (WST) and F-Sports Promotions Limited and supported by the Billiard Sports Council of Hong Kong China Limited, the "World Grand Prix 2026" will be held in Hong Kong for the second occasion, taking place from 3 to 8 February, 2026 at Kai Tak Arena, Kai Tak Sports Park. The world’s top 32 snooker players will all be competing for the championship and world rankings.

The World Grand Prix has been held in the UK since 2015 until march this year, when the competition was relocated to Hong Kong. As one of the premier events on the World Snooker Tour, it features the top 32 players ranked for the season, making it one of the pinnacle events in professional snooker. The total prize money is £700,000, with the winner's prize set at £180,000. All-time greats on track to qualify include current World Champion Neil Robertson, Judd Trump, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Ding Junhui, Zhao Xintong, Mark Selby, Shaun Murphy, Mark Allen, John Higgins, Mark Williams, Kyren Wilson.

Exhibition matches will be held on 7 and 8 February and will feature four world-class players in showcasing their skills for the fans. This year the event will also introduce a team exhibition match for the first time, allowing world-class players to interact with local up-and-coming players. The Hong Kong Billiard Sports Academy will hold a selection competition, with the winning young players forming teams with their idols to compete in the team exhibition match, promoting the development and legacy of snooker training. Tickets for the exhibition matches will not be sold publicly. Fans who have purchased tickets for the afternoon sessions on the first four days of the main event can redeem them for exhibition match tickets on a first-come, first-served basis. Further details will be announced at a later date. Some exhibition match tickets will also be distributed free of charge to local communities, including schools, youth groups, and charitable organizations, allowing the whole city to experience the excitement of this annual snooker spectacle.

In addition to the snooker action, a fan interaction zone and sports carnival will also be held alongside the event. With their event tickets, attendees can enjoy complimentary access to various sports experiences. Beyond various sports experiences and exclusive event merchandise, fans will also have an opportunity to interact with top players at autograph sessions. The "World Grand Prix 2026" is awarded “M” Mark status by the Major Sports Events Committee, symbolising an intense, spectacular and signature event in the territory sports calendar, helping enhance the image of Hong Kong as an international sports event capital.

Public ticket sales commence on 19 December at 9am through HK Ticketing and Damai, with tickets ranging from HK$80 to HK$2,580. The event will also offer a "Six-Day Pass" and a "Final Day All-Day Pass." Purchasers of the "Six-Day Pass" will receive a cue as a gift.
