Triumphant top seed Belinda Bencic aims for triple WTA singles tournament victory in Hong Kong

(Hong Kong) Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open 2025 top-seed Belinda Bencic flies into Hong Kong today in celebratory mood after winning the Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo, defeating 20-year-old Linda Noskova 6-2, 6-3 for a milestone 10th career title and second of the season.

In looking to add a third tournament title to her year during Hong Kong’s ‘Super October’ of international tennis, the 2020 Olympic Gold medalist will first face the challenge of Aliaksandra Sasnovich in the first round on Tuesday.

Qualifying matches were completed on Sunday, with 6 players earning spots in the main draw, including Maddison Inglis, Himeno Sakatsume, Kristiana Sidorova, Momoko Kobori, Ma Ye-Xin and Viktoria Morvayova.

Monday now sees the tournament’s first-round encounters get underway with Australia No.1 Maya Joint taking on Anastasija Sevastova. Ajla Tomljanovic makes a welcome return to a happy Hong Kong hunting ground, where she won last year’s Prudential Hong Kong Tennis 125 tournament. She first faces Japan’s Momoko Kobori in her bid to now capture the WTA 250 title. Cody Wong faces-off against Slovakia’s Viktoria Morvayova in the singles.

The popular Philippines’ Alexandra Eala makes her first appearance on court in Hong Kong as she pairs-up with Chan Hao-Ching of Chinese Taipei in a doubles clash with Kamilla Rakhimova and Aliaksandra Sasnovich. Justine Leong pairing with Maggie Ng in their doubles encounter against Sabrina Santamaria of the USA and Moyuka Uchijima of Japan.

The ‘Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open 2025’ runs from 25 October to 2 November. All main draw matches on Court 1 and Court 2 during the week will also be open to the public free of charge. The main draw's opening day tomorrow, October 27, will feature the traditional 'People’s Monday', which will also be open to the public for free*. Public tickets are now available for purchase through Klook. Cat 1 tickets range from HK$220 to HK$970; and HK$160 to HK$760 for Cat 2 tickets. The Tournament Village is open to the public completely free of charge throughout the event.

A 50% discount is available for those aged 18 or below, full-time students, and seniors aged 60 or above on Cat 2 tickets.
