Top Filipino artists exhibit works, participate in cultural exchanges in Vienna

Some of the most sought-after Filipino artists showcased their works in one of the most livable cities of the world, Vienna from September 15 to October 31.

A collaboration between the organizations Sige! and the Bastedor Art Project, the exhibit also coincides with the 50th year anniversary of the Angono Atelier. Artists Norlie Meimban and Vienna-based Harold Khan put the project together, giving the artists an opportunity to have their works viewed by a global audience and in a city teeming with arts. 

Participating artist include:Addie Cukingnan, Aivan Joshua Garcia, Andy Nabong, Angelie Banaag, Aries Hernandez, Arnel David Garcia, Aron Bautista, Arturo Arsega Jr., Astrid Castillo-Almario, Atoy Apostedero, Bernardo Balagtas, Brizia Magallanes, Cecille Artillaga, Charmaine Taus, China Tolentino, Christian Piolo Meimban, Dolpee Alcantara, Dom Nemesio Miranda, Dondi Fernandez, Eugene Balagtas, Gerry Bantang, Harold Khan, Jepoy Almario, Jojo Ramirez, Junever Mahilum-West, Keiye Miranda, Kristine Camille Cruz, Lara Latosa, Lisa Ante, Margo Calderero-Le Lain, Marie Khan, Meneline Wong M.D., Nemiranda, Norlito Meimban, Ram Mallari Jr., Ren Hendrick Reyes, Renee Avila, Rex Cabaroc, Rey Aurelio, Richard Buxani, Rob Detoyato, Ron Salazar, Rosalie Gonzales, and the VIC Art Club.





"Pagtititpon" was the first part of the festival and was held at the CITYgalleryVIENNA by publicartists located near the Wiener Staatsoper at the very heart of the city. Notable guests include Philippine Cultural attaché Chryzl Sicat and local celebrity Ola Egbowon with Cindy kurleto and Vincent Bueno sendimg their regards. The event also saw the launching of the art book "Petmalu".


The second leg was held at the United Nations with participation of the VIC Arts Club led by Ines and moderated by Marizel Roxas. In attendance was Austrian speedskater superstar Matthias Stelzmüller of "skate the world". Rosalie Gonzales of the Angono atelier performed her rendition of Edelweiss on the flute which guests spontaneously danced to. H.E. Lulli Arroyo made a surprise appearance to greet the artists despite her hectic schedule st the UN General Conference.


Lastly, Symphonie von Wein und Farbe is held at a famous local tavern known for its award-winning national ribbon for the best local wine. A very cozy and traditional tavern that serves outstanding kummelbraten along with fine red wine. Various local artists performed for the duration of the exhibit. The International Cultural Diversity Organization (ICDO) also held its annual cultural arts exhibit with selected Filipino artists partcipated. In attendance are local politicians and dignitaries from Nigeria and Colombia.
